Infosys

Company Name : Infosys (www.infosys.com)

Industry Type : Software

Locations : Multiple http://www.infosys.com/contact/default.asp

Employees : 10,000 leave every year !

Rating : 5 out of 10

Positives :

  • Growth: Infosys has posted high growth rate year after year. This year they grew by 46%.
  • Branding: Infosys is the amongst the top 3 IT Companies in India, and amongst the top in the world.
  • Work: Infosys has a great product in Finacle. They work for many Fortune 500 companies and offer great quality work.
  • Global Presence: Infosys has offices and clients all most everywhere, the company is also listed on NYSE.
  • Media Attention & Awards: Infosys receives dozens of awards, lots of coverage. It is definitely one of the most talked about companies in India.

Negatives :

  • Number of patents obtained in last 10 years - ZERO
  • Employees treated as ’Resources’ (commodities) instead of Individuals - Infy for all the hype doesn’t pay it’s employees commensurate compensation per their capability. It’s like any other government office where they pay you based on your ranking and years of experience ( only difference is Infy pays more, but not as much as other companies).
  • Employees are underpaid (compared to those working at MNCs), overworked and mostly working on maintenance jobs and/or in outdated technologies like COBOL, C, Mainframes etc. And to think Infy boasts of such a high-percentage of IIT recruits (who btw leave it in a year’s time!), isn’t it a terrible wastage of some of the most brilliant young minds?
  • You will not get sent anywhere (global/client offices)- not even to the nearest food court - if you are not a favourite (read a** licker) of the Project Manager

Recommendation for a new candidates : Join it for brand only

Will you like to join it again : Yes, but at a position not less than a project manager

___ Thanks to Shubham Singal
